I actually stumbled upon your page when looking up Pastor Al Martin. I'm a soon-to-be first time mom and have been thinking long and hard about what it will mean for me to be wife AND mother now. My husband and I both desire for me to stay home with our baby; however, I am terribly intimidated by the high pressures and demands of a homemake's role!

I agree with the Bible's teaching of women's roles being mainly in the home. I even enjoy the idea of it very much and admire women who are fantastic role models of this teaching. I did not grow up with a Biblical mother role model; thus, I don't feel like I have the skills, abilities (sewing, cooking, educating etc...) or motivation to be this homely wife you speak of.

Also, here in America, women's roles are bombarded with the femanist mentality--even with Christian women. Women are finding more fulfillment in working and career advancement. This makes is doubly challenging for me to embrace the Bible's teaching of being a homemaker and being content with it.

Your blog was both encouraging and nerve wrecking for me. I truely believe that women glorify God in a unique and great way when they take their role in the home seriously! I just have to find my niche as a wife and soon-to-be-mother.

Thank you for your blog; I will continue to come back to it and hopefully find much encouragement and hope through it.

God bless!
