About Me

December 20th, 2007

I’m a conservative evangelical Christian – one hubster, two kids. First name Liz, last name omitted to protect my kids. They already suffer unduly from my strange behaviour. I’ve decided to be very nice to them, just this once.

I live in the lower North Island of New Zealand. If you don’t know where New Zealand is expand your knowledge of the world by clicking here.

Homely can mean several things. The Oxford dictionary gives three meanings; simple, plain and unpretentious, comfortable and cosy in the manner of a home, and, of course, not attractive in appearance.

It is the first two definitions that caused me to chose the name although I don’t think any model agencies will be calling me soon.

Titus 2:5 calls all women to be busy at home. I believe that this call is becoming increasingly drowned in the opportunities offered to women. My aim is to focus on the home and encourage Christian women to be homely.

Does this mean I’m anti-feminism? Well it depends what you mean. If you mean women can only find fulfillment by working outside the home or there are no differences in men’s and women’s roles then you’ve come to the wrong place.

I’m not against women workings outside the home or men cooking. I’m a part time post-grad student at a university near us. But I do believe the Bible is very clear that a woman’s primary role is in the home.

So come and join me on my homely adventures.
